This position is located within the Urgent Care Clinic at the Bath VA Medical Center, Bath, New York. These positions will serve as a full time or part timeUrgent Care physician who directs Urgent Care services within facility.
The primary duties will include, but are not limited to:
Oversight of the Urgent Care services, as well as coverage of other inpatient or outpatient primary care areas as necessary has responsibility for attending staff and committee meetings as assigned and will actively participate in the teaching of Urgent Care practices/protocols.
Work Schedule: 12 hour coverage-to be discussed at interview. 2 positions are available. One full time and one part time.
Salary Range: Applicant's education and experience will be reviewed by a Professional Physician Standards Board and Compensation Panel in determining the grade and salary of the applicant selected. The recommended salary may be at any point in the range listed for this vacancy.
Citizenship of the United States. Noncitizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with Department of Veterans Affairs policy.
Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Completion of a first-year residency, or its equivalent, approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which it was completed.
Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Preferred Qualifications: ACLS/BLS. These certifications are required for privileging of this level of care.

Physical Requirements: The Urgent Care Physician should be physically and mentally capable to perform the duties of the position. Physical activities include sitting, standing and walking for long periods of time, some heavy lifting, reaching above the shoulder, and repeated bending. The incumbent may be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials and may be required to don protective clothing in isolation situations or operative/invasive procedures. The incumbent may occasionally be exposed to patients who are combative, secondary to delirium, intoxication, dementia, or psychiatric disorders.
