Responsible for the oversight of clinic operations in all assigned markets. The AVP reports to the Regional VP, Physician Services yet also collaborates with applicable Hospital CEO’s to ensure efficient and effective operations -through highly engaged staff and providers. The AVP is an integral member of executive teams, developing and executing key strategic initiatives that extend the reach of the mission of Adventist Health, with a focus on driving clinic performance by reducing variation towards One Adventist Health and system-wide cohesiveness.
Is responsible for the daily operations of all clinics in assigned markets. Supervises and manages all clinic managers and staff. Plans and maintains operational budgets and staffing levels. Responsible for goals and financial performance of each clinic. Ensures EHR is accurately implemented and providers and staff are trained and supported appropriately. Accountable for the performance of the clinic revenue cycle. This includes; co-pay collections, provider charges, coding and documentation. Responsible for performance improvement activities for the clinics based on clinic needs to ensure quality patient care. Actively participates and supports the managers in Market Operations Councils and Practice Operations Councils. Works with other health care professionals to provide quality patient care, safety and educational needs.

Ensuring Adventist Health’s culture (mission, vision and values) permeates and guides all aspects of assigned clinics.
Building internal organizational relationships with key individuals (employed physicians, extenders, referring physicians, executives and employees) for the expressed purpose of driving organizational strategy and related goals.
Implementing the market strategy and related goals that support the effective and efficient delivery of quality care and financial sustainability.
The overall performance of market’s outpatient services. This includes utilizing standard methods, mechanisms and systems for monitoring and evaluating business performance.
Implementing the appropriate policies, procedures and systems to support the region’s provider retention efforts.
Championing AH engagement efforts throughout the assigned markets to include physicians, patients and employees.
The AVP has distinct accountability for:
Ensuring clinics are operated in accordance with regulatory requirements and AHPS policies and procedures. Ensures best practices are implemented and maintained in all assigned clinics.
Ensure that the appropriate revenue management policies, procedures and systems are in place to allow for billing and collection effectiveness.
Driving Studer principles including LEM development and implementation and rounding with purpose.
Ensuring successful implementation and adoption of systems (EHR, CPM, etc.)
Partnering with local and regional hospital leadership to accomplish organizational goals and objectives.
Meeting and exceeding AHPS scorecard objectives (clinical, operational, service and financial). Leverages AHPS playbook to drive operational success.
Implementing the appropriate staffing models and standards throughout the assigned clinics.
Utilizing the appropriate performance reporting structures. This includes performance scorecards, service, operations and financial reporting, including performance ratio analysis, and other market and/or clinic specific metrics.
Ensuring appropriate supply chain management in accordance with AH policies. Maintaining the appropriate control over supplies.
Implementing the support systems and services needed to achieve key operational outcomes.
Addressing specialty-specific work relative value unit (wRVU) productivity expectations and performance oversight.
In conjunction with regional and system leadership, participate in market strategic planning and plan implementation.
Maintains a high level of visibility throughout the assigned clinics (approximately 60% in the field), ensuring open and transparent communication and partnership between clinic leadership (leads, supervisors and managers), employees and providers.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field. Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Management, Health Care Management, or related field preferred.
Experience: 7-10 years of multi-clinic leadership experience strongly preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required: Strong expertise with daily operations and patient flow processed in medical office settings. Must have strong leadership skills. Must have analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to present information in an easily understandable manner. Must conduct yourself with integrity and treat others fairly. Strong customer service and communication skills. Proficiency with computer applications such as Microsoft Excel and Word. Ability to work in a matrix reporting structure.
