Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required (prefer degree in in public health or science closely related to public health practice). Master’s degree in public health (or a science closely related to public health practice) or equivalent experience preferred. At least 5 years of project coordination and administrative experience supporting projects and programs at progressively higher levels. Knowledge of public health issues, health personnel, health administration. Ability to coordinate and follow through on several complex and highly visible projects concurrently. Experience working with board committees or member committees. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to write, edit and proofread written materials. Good interpersonal skills, including ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with APHA staff, volunteer leaders, members, and representatives of public agencies and private organizations in the health and scientific communities. Excellent organizational skills, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and to complete tasks with a minimum of supervision and proven attention to detail. Demonstrates a positive attitude, results-oriented approach to work; works effectively under pressure; self- motivated. Computer savvy, including experience managing databases and developing content for and posting materials to the web. Ability to exercise discretion and sensitivity in handling confidential matters. Mature judgment and strong sense of responsibility. Position is based in downtown DC near several metro stations. Hours: 35 hours a week, full-time, Mon- Fri. (daytime). Number of openings: 1.
