An opportunity exists for a Manager of Anesthesia and Operating Room (OR) Technical Services at Penn State Health - Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania. They will be responsible for the operational and fiscal management of the Anesthesia Technical, Neuro-monitoring Services, and OR Aides. This will include the management of staff through three supervisors as well as collaborating with Anesthesia and Nursing Departments to ensure regulatory compliance, patient and employee safety standards, and performance improvement activities.
Responsible for the development, implementation, and control of an on-going quality control cleaning/turn-over system for the OR Aides and Anesthesia technicians in the Operating Room that is efficient and regulatory compliant.
Establishes and maintains a program of effective management control through the use of various reports, and other methods of follow-up to ensure effective accomplishment of operational objectives.
Responsible and accountable for implementing and monitoring point of care testing in the operating rooms.
Establishes operational goals, objectives, policies and procedures for the Anesthesia Technical, Neuro-monitoring Services, and OR Aides.
Prioritizes daily assignments, weekly and monthly scheduling for the Anesthesia technical, Neuro-monitoring and OR Aide staff. Responsible for the staff assignments of OR Aide and Anesthesia Technical staff on a daily basis to optimally support OR Turnover, Patient Transports, Lab Runs, MTPs, and other assigned duties.
Interviews, hires and terminates applicants/employees to ensure effective daily operations in conjunction with the OR Aides, Anesthesia and Neuro-monitoring departments.
Initiates disciplinary/counseling action, performs criteria- based employee evaluations, develops and maintains staff competency assessments on Anesthesia technical, Neuro-monitoring and OR Aide staff.
Responsible for the formulation, implementation and control of assigned operational and capital budgets.
The minimum qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor’s degree in a related clinical/technical/business curriculum
Three to five years of experience in anesthesia, business/management, healthcare, or electrical technology
Supervisory/management experience (minimum three years preferred)
Additional preferred qualifications include:
Management experience in a union environment
Kronos time management experience
