Contributes to developing and executing a quality assurance program to meet both organizational and individual project needs. Able to determine appropriate testing strategy given a project's risk and quality requirements. Applies proven testing processes and tools for efficient and effective testing and develops new approaches for increased complexity and new environments. Provides subject matter expertise and assists others in understanding and performing quality assurance activities.
COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
Demonstrates strong knowledge of systems lifecycle development, project management, quality management.
Demonstrates the ability to develop comprehensive quality assurance and testing on a project that adequately addresses the risk and complexity of the project.
Performs functional, regression, parallel, stress and performance and regression testing.
Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills along with excellent administrative and facilitation skills. Must be able to communicate difficult/sensitive information in a diplomatic and tactful way.
Works on projects of moderate to high complexity across two or more development environments. Works on multiple programs/systems as a project team member. Considered a subject matter expert for a single program/system. May coach technical staff on quality assurance.
Strong problem-solver. Able to determine tasks necessary to get a job done. Works independently.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree or Associate degree in Computer Science or related required.
Minimum of five to seven years of IT and business experience required, with at least three years in Quality Assurance, audit, assessment or other relevant experience. Must have experience mapping business requirements to test plans, executing test plans and validating defect resolution. Familiarity with test automation tools, quality metrics and managing test environments is a plus.
In lieu of a degree, minimum of eight years’ experience required within Information Technology or performing quality assurance activities will be considered.
Quality Assurance-related certifications and training highly desired, whether vendor-specific or nationally recognized programs such as ASQ, QAI, ISO9001.
Experience in health care or health payer systems is preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work is typically performed in an office environment with occasional travel to different buildings. Mostly sedentary work interacting with computers and people. Requires ability to perform visual inspection and lifting less than 10 pounds.
