Open Faculty Position – Associate or Full Professor Rank
The University of California, Riverside (UCR) School of Medicine invites applications for the position of Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO). Successful candidate must have an MD or equivalent degree. The candidate needs to be organized with a detail oriented approach and a collaborative approach to leadership. The incumbent will have a concurrent academic appointment in an appropriate department in the School of Medicine and participate in teaching and research or creative activities. The successful applicant must qualify for an academic appointment in Professor Clinical X or Health Sciences Clinical series at the associate or full professor ranks. The CMIO will lead and facilitate key clinical leadership groups in the creation of required clinical content, protocols, workflows and related system usage policies as well as provide leadership for advancement and optimization of the new outpatient clinical systems that support existing EMR platforms.
The CMIO will be responsible for the integrity of the training programs; both from a quantity and a quality perspective leading the development of clinical rules supporting patient care and protocol research, as well as the design of clinical system features supporting protocol management and the use of systems to leverage the clinicians time and maximize communication with affiliates and referring physicians. The CMIO will operate as a leader in helping to establish and communicate a vision and plan for the use of the EMR system, serving as the primary liaison between IT and ambulatory clinical communities. The CMIO will provide a consistent comparable education to all individuals at multiple training sites; identifying the learners that assimilate skills, knowledge, or behaviors at sub-standard rates and developing remedial actions that result in measured outcomes similar to the goals of the program. The CMIO will be responsible for supporting the development, implementation and use of clinical information systems to assist clinicians in the delivery of the highest quality and most appropriate patient care.
