| JOB TITLE:Certified Medical Assistant LOCATION: Geisinger Specialty Clinic 1010 E Mtn Dr WilkesBarre DEPARTMENT:General Surgery WORK SCHEDULE: Days WORK TYPE: Full time JOB SUMMARY: Provides primary clinical support to the physician and patient to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of the patient's condition. Follows up on diagnostic testing to ensure completion, accuracy, and filing of same in medical record to ensure continuity and quality of care. Meets the qualifications to provide care for patients in specific age range on their assigned clinical area. Performs duties to support the goals and objectives of Geisinger in its efforts to provide quality patient care and patient satisfaction. Works under the general supervision of the site lead for daily operational issues. Works under the supervision of the physician in providing patient care. COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS: Demonstrates ability to accurately prioritize clinical and clerical tasks. Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills, willingness to accept continuing education to broaden skills, and good clinical skills to work effectively with patient's families and physicians. Demonstrates ability to work effectively in a team of environment, be flexible and maintain confidentiality. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Graduate of an accredited two-year program required. Association of Medical Assistants Certification required. Certification of Basic Life Support (CPR) required within 3 months of hire. Minimum of one year in a primary care setting preferred. Minimum one year in a primary care setting preferred. Pharmacology knowledge preferred. WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work is typically performed in a clinical environment.
