Description The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at UCLA, Division of Clinical Pathology, is searching for an outstanding faculty with training and/or experience in transfusion medicine and coagulation. The successful candidate must have an MD/DO (or equivalent) with board certification in Clinical Pathology (or Internal Medicine), and board certified or board eligible in Transfusion Medicine. Eligibility for medical licensure in the state of California is required. This individual will have a collaborative administrative and academic relationship with other faculty within the division of Laboratory Medicine, and will provide clinical consultations across UCLA Health, including high complexity in-patient care at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center and Santa Monica UCLA Orthopaedic Hospital, and blood donor services provided by the UCLA Blood and Platelet Center. Responsibilities will include provision of consultative services to physicians in transfusion medicine/patient blood management and coagulation consultation for patients with bleeding or thrombotic disorders, education of physicians regarding test utilization and interpretation, and active engagement in quality assurance activities including those related to accreditation. Duties will also include active participation in the educational mission of the department including the teaching of residents, fellows, and medical school students. Creative contributions in clinical, educational or research projects is expected; UCLA offers a highly collaborative research environment that promotes interactions among faculty in the School of Medicine.
