The Director of the Surgery Center provides administrative oversight of the ambulatory surgery center programs, activities, projects, and process improvement initiatives within the Surgery Center. The director is responsible for the development, organization, implementation, and evaluation of the administrative and clinical operations in accordance with accepted practice, clinic policies and procedures.
Responsible for providing direction, coordination and evaluation of staff. Carry out leadership responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES:
Ensures that the delivery of ambulatory surgical services are delivered in an efficient, cost-effective, and customer service oriented manner.
Analyzes reimbursement and cost per case data by physician to assess the cost/benefit ratio of procedures to achieve the highest level of cost-effective service delivery possible.
Acts as a patient coach to patients including vulnerable patient populations by offering self-management support and care coordination.
Prepares annual budget for administrative and clinical services in collaboration with medical staff, nursing, and other staff as needed, and monitors monthly financial performance of the Center.
Establishes policies and procedures, and standards and measurement criteria in collaboration with nursing, medical staff, and other Center staff essential to the achievement of the philosophy and objectives of the Center and ensures that the staff understands and follows them.
Ensures that the Surgery Center remains in compliance with regulatory standards and assures documentation of patient care meets the criteria dictated by legal practice, state and federal health standards.
Assigns responsibilities and delegates authority that will facilitate safe, effective, and efficient care for the surgical patient.
Reduces the chance of nosocomial infection by directing attention to infection control and environmental safety practices.
Plan and lead clinical department staff meetings, orientations, and in-service training for staff members.
Provides effective staff management (hiring, development, training, performance, feedback, etc.) that assures utilization of personal to best meet the needs of the people receiving supports and services
Evaluates service needs and staffing requirements to assure needs of physician and patient supports are met.
Ensure smooth daily operations and steady progress towards established clinic goals.
Implement, plan, lead, and evaluate surgical services and programs.
Promote customer service in all aspects of the team in order to create a work environment conducive to promoting an ongoing level of high customer service.
Participate in organization committees and interact with organization personnel in problem solving, project management, and in technical and budgetary concerns.
Evaluate and update work processes, making recommendations for process improvement initiatives.
Investigates all physician, patient, and departmental complaints by direct contact with involved parties and documents follow-up action taken.
Work internally with other QMG departments to expand and improve comprehensive and integrative surgical care services within the community.
Continue to keep updated on new surgical practice guidelines and ensure that those are implemented based on standardized recommendations.

Registered Nurse, ADN (Associates Degree of Nursing) at minimum. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (preferred), Bachelor of Science in Business or Healthcare Administration or other related field will be considered, three to five years healthcare management experience (preferably in OR/surgical setting) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
