The site navigation utilizes arrow, enter, escape, and space bar key commands. Left and right arrows move across top level links and expand / close menus in sub levels. Up and Down arrows will open main level menus and toggle through sub tier links. Enter and space open menus and escape closes them as well. Supervises and directs Security personnel; assures safety and security of patients,
visitors, and employees; meets the qualifications to provide care for patients in the specific age range on their assigned clinical area.
Performs duties to provide the highest level of patient care and maximize patient satisfaction.
Works under the general direction of the Director and/or Manager, Security Services.
COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and follow instructions.
Demonstrated ability to perform arithmetic calculations.
Demonstrated knowledge of first aid, CPR / AED, modern firefighting techniques, security policies and procedures.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s degree preferred.
Minimum of five years of security, military, institutional or police experience required. Some healthcare related security experience required.
Academic achievement may be substituted for years of experience based on the following:
• An Associate’s degree in a related field may be substituted for one year of experience.
• A Bachelor’s degree in a related field may be substituted for two years of experience.
• A Master’s degree in a related field may be substituted for an additional year of experience.
• Total years of experience based upon academic achievement not to exceed three.
Previous lead or supervisory experience required.
Successful completion and/or current certification of Hazardous Material Response Training per facility response plan requirements, Psychiatric Emergency Response Training (PEAT), Aerosol Self Defense Spray, Handcuffing/Use of Force (PATH), OCAT, MOAB, First Aid/CPR/AED and IAHSS Security Supervisor Certification required within one year of hire. All training must remain current and up to date.
Pennsylvania driver's license required.
Requires six months on the job to become familiar with all duties.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Works in all types of weather. Responds to emergencies, fire alarms, hazardous material incidents. Deals with conflict, confrontation, and stressful situations on a routine basis. Performs both foot patrol and vehicle patrol of facilities and grounds. Must be physically able to provide the essential services of the position.
