Summary of Position:The Executive Director for the Saratoga Hospital Medical Group (SHMG) has oversight for all strategic and operational elements for the group and effectively fosters physician engagement while driving enhanced revenue cycle processes and outcomes and improving access and increasing overall market share for the group. In alignment with the hospital’s strategic and operating plans, the Executive Director is responsible for developing volume and revenue growth strategies; operational efficiency strategies; and clinical quality outcome strategies. The Executive Director will interact routinely with hospital and physician leadership to share insight, identify opportunities/barriers to growth, and outline approaches to achieve desired strategies and operating imperatives. The Executive Director, in collaboration with the SHMG administrative team, oversees revenue cycle systems and processes is responsible for ensuring that the right administrative processes, reporting, analysis and technology is in place to support the physicians and enable overall SHMG growth and success. The Executive Director is the leadership partner for the operational team of the SHMG and works in partnership with Human Resources to ensure competitive compensation and benefit programs for the SHMG provider-base while maintaining compliance with federal and state regulatory mandates.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
In collaboration with the SHMG Leadership Board, leads the development and implementation of growth strategies to improve access, maximize revenue opportunities while managing costs, and increase utilization of Saratoga Hospital programs and services by the physician group.
Collaborates with hospital, physician and committee leadership to develop high-quality and cost-effective physician and practice growth plans consistent with the hospital’s strategic plan. Effectively utilizes market demographics for physician and patient populations, market share patterns, patient utilization data and physician practice trends in the development of growth strategies.
Identifies and develops specific plans to support and measure volume and revenue growth for SHMG employed physician practices.
Works with hospital and physician leadership to define, develop and implement new strategies related to increased physician-hospital engagement. Partners with SHMG Physician Leadership, the Hospital’s Finance and Marketing teams to support targeted referral development efforts including analysis of market intelligence data, development of campaign plans, and creation of marketing materials.
Provides ongoing field intelligence. Collaborates with direct reports to ensure tactical and strategic intelligence is gathered.
Participates in the identification and development of new physician and market opportunities to include business plan development; utilization projections; and space needs. Remains active in regional, state and national professional association to identify developing trends; ensure alignment with cutting edge approaches to multispecialty group operations.
Collaborates with marketing to ensure consistent tools and/or messages are in place to enhance brand recognition of the SHMG.
Facilitates the organization’s response to new volume opportunities through information gathering, presentation, and proactive interaction with appropriate internal constituents.
Ensures commitment to the patient experience across all SHMG office locations by measuring, monitoring, and reporting patient satisfaction outcomes. Identifies trends and collaborates with physicians and their respective staffs at the various practice locations to improve outcomes and reduce variability in systems and processes.
Operations and Staff
Create a sustainable and contemporary medical group by developing a leadership team that has well-defined roles, objectives, and outcomes.
Develops resources and continuous education opportunities that support one of the three key areas of Physician Development including: direct-to-physician marketing, physician and/or practice development, and physician engagement.
Drives ongoing staff and physician training and learning opportunities to ensure continued growth and development.
Actively participates in the recruitment of physicians and advanced clinical providers.
Provides leadership and direction in the development, implementation and evaluation of the medic al group’s performance management processes.
Identified and implements retention strategies for the Medical Group.
Provides timely and meaningful communication to hospital and physician leadership.
Collaborates with SHMG Operations Team on the development and monitoring of budgets and expenditures for all SHMG cost centers.
Responsible for oversight of all related revenue cycle activities for the SHMG.
Optimize the use of electronic medical records and health information exchanges to best meet regulatory requirements, including “meaningful use” benchmarks.
Identifies and implements cutting-edge strategies aimed at maximizing Medical Groups accessibility and revenue while being early adopters of trends aimed at meeting/exceeding evolving consumerism demands.
Develop standard system(s) for capturing and communicating key performance indicators for the group performance and overall achievement of intended results.
Minimum Qualifications: Requires a minimum of a Master’s Degree in business, finance, healthcare administration, or related field.
A minimum of 7-10 years of progressive leadership experience in a large medical or multispecialty practice required with demonstrated performance in business development, marketing, revenue cycle management, practice operations and process and performance improvement. Professional Certification strongly preferred.
Requires considerable time out of the office traveling to the various SHMG site locations.
Ability to work at a fast pace, prioritize multiple activities and respond in a timely manner to numerous requests.
Tenacious drive to support the leadership of Saratoga Hospital in volume growth and revenue cycle enhancement.
