The Byers Eye Institute at Stanford University School of Medicine, Department of Ophthalmology seeks highly qualified candidates from all subspecialties for full time faculty positions in the Medical Center Line, Clinician Educator Line, University Tenure Line, or the Non-Tenure Line (Research) at the level of Assistant, Associate, or full Professor. Faculty rank and line will be commensurate with qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
The major criteria for appointment for faculty in the Medical Center Line is excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, clinical teaching, and scholarly activity that advances clinical medicine, and institutional service appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill.
The major criteria for appointment for Clinician Educator Line is excellence in the overall mix of clinical care and clinical teaching appropriate to programmatic need and clinical area.
The major criteria for appointment in the University Tenure Line (whether clinically active or not) is a major commitment to research and teaching, with demonstrated research distinction including evidence of success with external peer review and funding.
The major criteria for appointment for non-clinical faculty in the Non-Tenure Line (Research) is evidence of high-level performance as a researcher for whose special knowledge a programmatic need exists.
The candidate should hold an MD or MD-PhD degree in a related field; equivalent clinical degrees will also be considered. Any clinical field of eye and vision care, and any research area in eye and vision research broadly defined will be considered.
