Provides effective leadership and accountability for ambulatory care operations for designated Medical Group Market (Utah North Market - Cache Valley, Weber, Relationship with employed providers in Burley, ID). Has full accountability for operational and financial management for assigned market, as well as performance in all fundamentals of extraordinary care (i.e. Safety, Quality, Experience, Access, Caregiver Engagement, Stewardship, and Growth)
Develops, proposes and manages operational and capital budgets, and is accountable for developing, proposing, and managing operational and capital budget for market; is the accountable leader for the profit and loss financial performance of the market. Works collaboratively with other AVPs, VP of Operations, and Service Line leaders to creatively solve system-level and cross-market challenges. Accountable for practice operations within market. All practice management and staff within market roll-up to the market AVP, with a few exceptions. Optimizes and maintains standard staffing for levels needed within market. Responsible for hiring decisions and setting compensation for non-provider staff in market. Supports in the deployment of Medical Group and operational, quality, and safety-related standards across all Service Lines. Tracks and manages performance against those standards. Partners with Continuous Improvement to ensure consistent implementation of the Intermountain Operating Model at all tiers within the market and at all practices. Effectively uses and role models Intermountain operating model to measure Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and actively leads / participates in quality improvement initiatives. Supports in deployment and management of clinical protocols in all Service Lines. Responsible for leadership development and mentoring of future Intermountain Medical Group leadership. Builds provider and caregiver engagement. Promotes a culture of patient and caregiver safety. Promotes a culture that supports Intermountain's values and patient-centricity. Ensures effective communication to Physicians, leaders and caregivers. Supports physician performance management (e.g., flagging issues, deploying and monitoring interventions) in partnership with Service Line Medical Directors and AMDs. Cultivates strong relationships and connection with community leaders and stakeholders. Maintains strong working relationships with hospital administrators in market and effectively collaborate in solving challenges that relate to physician practice in the hospital or other medical group related needs. Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and Intermountain policy. Collaborates with physician and operational leadership across the organization to help Intermountain achieve its mission. Assesses market needs and collaborates with Medical Group leadership to ensure patient access throughout designated market area and across the entire Intermountain Medical Group service area. Prioritizes strategic physician recruiting requests with input from SBC (hospitals), Clinical Programs, and Service Line leaders, and formalizes recruiting plan for approval by the Clinical Enterprise Team (CET). AVP - ~300-500 physicians, ~1,500-2,000 total caregivers
Master's Degree in healthcare or business administration (or related field). Degree must be obtained from an accredited institution. Education is verified.
Seven years healthcare leadership or practice management experience. - and - Demonstrated sound financial and quantitative analytical skills, excellent diplomacy and persuasive abilities, and strong communications skills (written and verbal). - and - Experience in managing large groups of multi-site practices and experience opening new ambulatory sites. - and - Proficiency with word processing and worksheet software. - and - Demonstrated leadership skills to include communication, presentation, professional ethics, and ability inspire and motivate others.
