M Health Fairview has created GPHR (pronounced gopher), our consumer innovation studio. GPHRs mandate is to create business value by improving consumer experiences (patients, providers, staff, business partners) throughout the health system. Like many digital studios, GPHR is built on design-led approaches and agile development methods. We are seeking a Director of Product Delivery and Operations.
GPHRs Director of Product Delivery and Operations is responsible for leading and supervising product (experience) development teams and the operations needed to support these teams. The Directors primary focus will be on Digital Product Delivery in an organization that is aggressively moving to become more digitally sophisticated and experience-led. The work will include:
Development of strategic approaches to define and build new consumer experiences that drive value for the organization and consumers
Application of experience-led thinking to drive our innovation, data and technology development
Application of agile methods to design, develop, execute, measure and refine consumer experiences
Collaboration with leaders in our clinical operations and shared business services
Creating effective, repeatable approaches to design/scale new experiences
GPHRs product teams (also known as Pods) are a combination of internal and external resources, led by a Fairview-employed Journey (product) owner. These product owners (and their teams) will report to this leader.
The skills required for this role are strong operations and people management in a digital studio environment, technology innovation and investment analysis, competency with organizational dynamics, exceptional communication (written and oral) skills, familiarity with experience design, consumer product development and marketing, ability to lead teams and an entrepreneurial spirit.
Based in the Twin Cities Metro area, this position will require residency within proximity of the workplace. As this position offers some ability to telecommute, it is the expectation the following requirements of the remote work policy will be met, including but not limited to:
Remote workspace that is clean, safe,andprofessional.
Maintains an internet connection consistent with Fairview standards at remote workspace.
Remain productive and responsive during their scheduled work hours.
Attend primary Fairview location, as needed.
Responsibilities/Job Description
Accountable to ensure pods are working effectively by
Sharing/disseminating learning, key decisions, new design work across PODS to ensure teams are well-coordinated
Staffing and funding for specific PODS. This may include tapping third party partners or leading recruitment of new staff.
Managing the pipeline of incoming requests for POD support and collaborating with Journey Owners to prioritizing POD work
Collaborating with Journey Owners to manage/track budgets
Support Journey Owners in the development of their consulting-like skills and career growth plans
Provide input to GPHR leadership on our innovation/digital agenda
Participate in visioning/planning discussions with GPHR leadership
Lead Journey Owners to apply disciplined, consumer first approaches to product development
Support Journey Owners as they reconcile consumer needs against the operational complexities of the health system
Provide day-to-day oversight of third-party design and development partners
Challenge current assumptions about current (and future state) consumer experiences
Develop/execute thoughtful approaches to prioritize and manage GPHR priorities and product roadmaps
Openness to working in an unstructured, steadily evolving, non-hierarchical environment. Working GPHR is like working in a start-up.
Qualifications
Required
Education
Bachelors Degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience
8 10 years of experience in consulting, design, agency and/or, software development environments.
3+ years managing and leading teams and transformation efforts.
Demonstrated leadership in digital operations and managing stakeholder relationships.
Demonstrated experience in technology innovation and investment analysis.
Effectively led flat teams (without multiple layers of support staff).
Exceptional communication (written and oral) skills.
Familiarity with experience design, consumer product development and marketing.
