This position supports the core business activities of the CHRISTUS Health Plans by providing high level analytic and strategic insight. The Project Manager determines user demands, establishes work priorities, and plans; directs and monitors project work. Maintains project issues and reports to health plan leadership, and communicate to local steering teams on the progress of critical path items. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. The Project Manager will gather and evaluate information concerning a user's conceptual needs, estimate and schedule project activities and associated costs, coordinate and participate in analysis/design/coding activities, ensure that system changes are fully tested, ensure users are fully trained and prepared, associated guideline and procedure requirements are met, and coordinate implementation of the changes. Status/report of all active projects will be reported to health plan leadership on a real-time basis.
Serves as a project manager on small to medium implementation projects impacting multiple business areas within the health plan.
Oversees assigned projects including monitoring project performance and compliance with applicable specifications, rules, regulations and laws.
Responsible for the preparation of initial and final documentation necessary for delivery to customer, systems and programming; insures quality and timeliness of work performed and the final products.
Develop organizational tools such as project plans, timelines, meeting agendas, conceptual models and presentations to document and communicate project goals and needs, engage stakeholders and define deadlines and accountabilities.
Establishes schedules and methods for achieving project goals and objectives; and reviews work products, makes corrections and coordinates accordingly with health plan leadership.
Facilitates communication across distinct functional teams such as medical management, operations, analytics and IT, finance, state and local government, vendors, consultants, executive leadership.
Relationship Management: Develops relationships with departments based upon industry knowledge, and how business processes and technology enhancements can lead to competitive advantage. Sets direction based upon prioritized projects. Advises local and corporate steering teams. Ensures projects are made up of the right people with the appropriate skill sets. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Training: Works with Vendors on the following:
Planning for and ensuring preparation and maintenance of documentation pertaining to programming, systems operation and user documentation.
Translating business specifications into contractual requirements for execution.
Ensuring training of users on business processes.
Ensuring new and historical contracts are located and accessible in the contract management system.
Requirements Definition: Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates systems, business processes, and user needs. Works with IM and health plan stakeholders to formulate overall business strategies.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a Business related field or two to four years of Managed Care experience
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Project
Must have two to four years of previous of Managed Care experience
Previous experience managing projects of small to medium scope and complexity.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and interpersonal skills are required to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders at all levels, guide and lead others and provide direction.
Strong organizational and time management skills allowing you to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail are required as is the ability to research issues, prepare evaluations on problems and recommend viable solutions. Candidates should have good attention to details and possess the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions to manage a project as described. A moderately high level of analytical and problem-solving skills is required. The ability to handle complex customer and system issues are essential. Demonstrated skills in project tracking and management projects are required.
