The Financial Accounting and Reporting Department is seeking an experienced Accounting Supervisor to oversee and supervise the daily operations of the Financial Accounting & Reporting Department at Affinity Health Alliance, Inc. (known to the communities that we serve as "Union Hospital") a wholly owned subsidiary of ChristianaCare. This position will be remote with meetings on-site when needed. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for the daily operations of the Financial Accounting & Reporting Department at Union Hospital.
Directs and participates in the development of accounting and internal control policies and systems.
Reviews, interprets, and develops communication and adoption plans for relevant accounting guidance as developed by the FASB and other regulatory bodies and trains the team accordingly.
Leads the month-end close process at Union Hospital and is responsible for the preparation and review of the monthly financial reporting package.
Provides written analysis of the monthly financial reporting package and other deliverables as needed.
Reviews account reconciliations on a regular basis.
Leads the year-end audit for Union Hospital and is responsible for the issuance of the audited consolidated financial statements for Union Hospital.
Leads the tax compliance work for Union Hospital, including the filing of the IRS Form 990 for each applicable entity.
Provides coaching and training to the accounting professionals at Union Hospital on a regular basis or as needed.
Establishes appropriate departmental priorities and sets the standards for the quality of the work of the department.
Ensures that complete & accurate information is provided on a timely basis to key stakeholders of the Financial Accounting & Reporting Department.
Comfortable utilizing technology, including a cloud-based ERP system as the general ledger and reporting engine.
Regularly examines alternative methods of providing required accounting & reporting services in order to create efficiencies within the department, including the use of innovative technology.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting required
Master's degree preferred
Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required
Public accounting experience preferred
Healthcare financial or related experience preferred
Supervisory experience preferred
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted
