The Sioux Falls VA Health Care System is recruiting for an Full Time, Permanent, Physician Gastroenterologist. This position is located at the Primary & Specialty Medicine Service Line, at the Sioux Falls VAHCS. Throughout the duration of this vacancy announcement, applications that are received will be referred to the selecting official on a bi-weekly basis. The staff Gastroenterologist will be responsible for, but not limited to the following duties: Physician should have expertise in Gastroenterology and be able to treat and manage patients who have illnesses related to General Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. Physician should also be proficient and privileged in procedures related to Gastroenterology. Hepatology patients managed by GI. Provide comprehensive care to include diagnosis, treatment, follow-up and education of patients with Gastroenterology conditions in the outpatient, inpatient and community living center settings. Complete documentation and coding of visits accurately and timely. Perform colonoscopies and EGD's. Evaluate, triage, and prioritize Gastroenterology consult requests to ensure timely care for patients. Conduct telemedicine visits for patients in outlying clinics. Perform administrative tasks as assigned, such as peer reviews, Compensation and Pension evaluations, and Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluations (OPPE). Coordinate care at VA or non-VA referral centers for patients requiring services not provided at the facility such as Pill cam, EUS, ERCP surgery. Attend staff meetings and service on committees, process improvement teams and workgroups as requested. Completes CME as required to maintain competency in Gastroenterology and medical licensure. Completes HIPAA, Privacy and Security and other mandatory VA training in a timely manner Work Schedule: The tour of duty for this position is typically Monday-Friday, Administrative hours.
