This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Learn more Major Duties/Responsibilities: - Surgical procedures, with required expertise in in all areas of Gastroenterology including: - Proctoscopy and/or flexible sigmoidoscopy - Diagnostic upper gastrointestinal endoscopy - Esophageal dilation - Colonoscopy, including biopsy and polypectomy - Therapeutic upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy - Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy - Administration of Moderate Sedation - Supervision/teaching of surgical residents. - Providing consultation in an outpatient clinic setting and on inpatient wards. - Participation in committees. - Other duties as assigned by the Chief of Surgery or Chief of Staff. Tour of Duty: Monday - Friday, 7:30 A.M. - 4:00 P.M.; however, subject to change, depending on the needs of the service/medical center. On-call responsibilities as required.
