The Patient Safety Manager is responsible for overseeing Centra’s patient safety program, including development and support of initiatives to enhance our safety culture, incident follow-up and investigations, monitoring of trends, aligning performance improvement initiatives with organizational goals and objectives, and support of educational programming around safety culture and behaviors. . The Patient Safety Manager provides direct oversight of the Patient Safety Specialist team. They utilize knowledge of federal, state, and accrediting agency standards and regulations that positively affect patient safety and performance improvement. This position leads highly visible projects which will impact patient safety; directs the organizational process to respond to safety incidents; provides oversight of investigations for safety events using “Root Cause Analysis” methodologies; develops action plans and ensures implementation of identified improvements. Utilizes appropriate forms of recognition to promote patient safety. Promotes the patient safety culture survey. This position ensures accurate data is available for the organization to use to manage unit or division level performance for patient safety; coordinates and actively participates in process improvement activities to address performance gaps; and builds collaborative relationships among team members, nursing, ancillary departments, administration, and medical staff.
BSN graduate of an accredited school of nursing. At least 3 years of management experience. Previous experience working in a patient safety role as either staff or management. CPPS - Certified Professional in Patient Safety. CPHQ - Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality.
