Staff Scientist II - Molecular Biology and Genome Engineering

ChristianaCare is looking for a Staff Scientist II who will utilize their Molecular Biology experience and knowledge to work with a cross-functional team of cell and molecular biologists in a fast-paced environment within the Gene Editing Institute. The successful candidate is expected to carry out the assigned projects mostly independently. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to designing, optimizing, executing and trouble-shooting PCR / high throughput PCR, Sanger sequencing, and bioinformatics analysis.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
RNA and genomic DNA purification from mammalian cells
Design, optimize and execute PCR reactions
Reverse transcription (cDNA synthesis)
Perform Sanger sequencing
Interpretation of Sanger data
Restriction digestion, conventional and seamless cloning
Viral vector design, construction, and transduction
SDS-PAGE, Western and analysis
Close communication with all involved team members and supervisors
Maintenance of laboratory equipment
Maintenance of a highly organized, technical and detailed laboratory notebook containing protocols used, results derived from each experiment or measurement
Preparation and dissemination of technical reports
Present research findings, including preparation of research reports and abstracts, dissemination at national and international scientific conferences and publication of manuscripts by peer-reviewed scientific journals.
Maintain familiarity with current scientific literature and techniques in the field of CRISPR based gene therapy
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, biological sciences or related field with 3 - 7 years of work experience or MS with 1 - 5 years of work experience
Experience with wide variety of molecular biology techniques
Experience in molecular biology assay development
Experience with ddPCR
Experience with Western blotting
Experience with managing multiple projects simultaneously
Experience in fast-paced biotechnology industry is preferred
