Job Title: Chief Medical Officer
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
Job Summary: The Chief Medical Officer will provide a central leadership role in the transformation of Florida Medical Clinic to a healthcare organization that relies on evidence-based medicine and delivers coordinated, patient-centered care. The Chief Medical Officer will leverage his/her clinical expertise and influence within the organization to drive change in an increasingly value-driven market.
Minimum of five years experience as Medical Director/CMO and value based care experience required
Serves as a change agent by preparing the organization for population management and risk contracting by spearheading initiatives to implement new care delivery models
Assists in building cross-continuum service lines to improve the quality and safety of patient care through the enhancement of care coordination.
Reducing care variation by providing appropriate analysis of clinical and cost data and working closely with Division Leaders to reduce the total cost of care while maintaining/enhancing clinical effectiveness.
Assists with the evaluation and implementation of health information systems/software that promote the quality of patient care, safety, and the patient’s experience of care.
Supports change management that is aligned to clinical and operational strategies determined by the Board of Directors.
Increases provider engagement by interfacing collaboratively with Division Leaders and their respective division providers.
Assists in managing clinic-wide quality and safety in collaboration with the Quality and Performance Monitoring Committee, ASC Medical Directors and Division Leaders.
Responsible for fostering an environment of teamwork, collaboration, and mutual trust among providers, administration, organization committees, and the Board of Directors.
Assists the Medical Executive Committee in evaluation and managing disruptive and/or impaired providers including recommending monitoring and intervention programs if necessary.
Holds seats on the Board of Directors, Compliance Committee, ACO Board of Directors, Quality and Performance Monitoring Committee, Key Management and the Medical Executive Committee.
Provides recommendations for the development and/or revision of clinic policies and procedures pertinent to clinic providers.
Educates and guides providers to a greater level of understanding of healthcare reform and how to maximize performance and profitability using quantifiable metrics for value-driven healthcare.
Works to increase the number of physicians involved in leadership roles and assists with provider leadership development.
Leads and oversees the Clinical Transformation department.
Serves as a resource and consultant to the CEO and ACO Medial Director.
Provides medical consultation on contracting, pricing and analysis of managed care issues including providing clinical support.
Oversees the day to day operations of the Hospital Medicine and Palliative Medicine departments
Works closely with the FMC Compliance Officer to manage and/or improve provider performance as it relates to compliance related matters
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) required
Master's degree in business or related field preferred
10+ years of experience in clinical practice preferred
Experience as a CMO (or equivalent) in a large, complex medical group or regional health system required
Extensive knowledge and experience with Population Health, Accountable Care Organizations and value based care strategies within the healthcare industry.
