This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Learn more Major Duties: The Primary Care Physician will manage the full spectrum of primary care for VA-Eastern Colorado Health Care System, (ECHCS), and Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) or at the Pueblo Colorado VA CBOC location. Primary Care Physician will provide medical care in an outpatient setting with assessment, diagnosis, treatment, monitoring outcomes, physicals, initiating therapeutic regimens and prescribing medications and supplies in accordance with established VA policy. The Primary Care Physician will practice independently, use professional judgment and expertise to provide services and treatment to Veterans and their family members, and assure the Veterans receive compassionate, efficient, and safe patient care. Assures that clinical care provided meets all timelines and required documentation as required by VA. Providers must review alerts daily and have no more than 200 alerts at any given time. They must complete "open encounters" within 48 hours, encounter their notes within 72 hours. Encounter errors must be completed within 7 days. 1. Provide and manage the full spectrum of primary care for Veterans and family members. 2. Maintain current, relevant clinical medicine skills related to the Primary Care Specialty. 3. Attend staff meetings and mortality reviews, and complete peer review evaluations. 4. Perform medical histories and physicals and initiate consults to specialty services. 5. Initiate and adjust therapeutic regimens and prescribe medications and supplies in accordance with VA formulary. 6. Triage patients with non-medicine complaints to appropriate disciplines for diagnosis and treatment. 7. Collaborate with Veterans and family members to develop follow up health care plans. 8. Utilize VA approved computer systems and programs for fully computerized entry of notes, patient documentation, entry of orders, medication requests, and consult requests. 9. Communicate with facility leadership regarding required resources. 10. Triage patients with diseases and injuries for appropriate direction to appropriate discipline for treatment. 11. Demonstrate knowledge of age appropriate medical needs of patients. 12. Implement Primary Care operations management processes. 15. Provide health education on wellness, disease prevention, chronic care management, and self-management skills to veterans. 16. Engage and communicate with Veterans and staff in a respectful, courteous, tactful manner. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package.
