Banner Health Network (BHN) is an accountable care organization that joins Arizona's largest health care provider, Banner Health, and an extensive network of primary care and specialty physicians to provide the most comprehensive healthcare solutions for Maricopa County and parts of Pinal County. Through BHN, known nationally as an innovative leader in new health care models, insurance plans and physicians are coming together to work collaboratively to keep members in optimal health, while reducing costs.
POSITION SUMMARY This position represents Banner Health in the community in the capacity of contracting. Builds and maintains effective relationships with targeted providers and ancillary groups while negotiating contracts. Demonstrates knowledge of Providers in assigned geographic area. Understands interrelationships among providers in local market. Focuses on expanding the network in a geographical area.
CORE FUNCTIONS 1. Assists Network Management Sr. Director in developing, recruiting and expanding a professional network to include specialists and ancillary groups.
2. Maintains value-based purchasing (VBP) and clinically integrated network (CIN) contract templates. Participates in workgroup meetings regarding custom VBP arrangements and creating custom VBP contract documents.
Negotiates contracting with hospitals and other providers (e.g., Hospitals, Ancillaries, and large physician groups)..
3. Ensures the network composition includes an appropriate distribution of provider specialties for member counts.
4. Prepares, analyzes, reviews, and projects financial impact of larger or complex provider contracts and alternate contract terms.
5. Tracks financial performance of contracts and ensures compliance with contracting guidelines.
6. Ensures the smooth operation and administration of provider agreements. Prioritizes and organizes workload to meet deadlines. Manage projects as needed.
7. This position works independently, renewing and negotiating provider contracts. This position works with providers to negotiate contracts which are within company policy/guidelines and legal requirements. Internally interfaces with all levels of company management. Externally interfaces with providers or other payers.
Knowledge and experience as typically obtained by the completion of a Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare or related field required.
Requires five years contracting and negotiating experience involving complex delivery systems and organizations, including value based purchasing. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to speak clearly and concisely, conveying complex or technical information in a manner that others can understand, as well as ability to understand and interpret complex information from others. Strong interpersonal skills establish rapport and work well with others. Must have strong customer service skills, experience working with providers and negotiating contracts. Requires ability to positively and professionally represent the organization in individual and group settings. Must be self-motivated and possess the ability to function well in a team environment. In depth knowledge of Medicare reimbursement methodologies and the Phoenix providers market is a plus.
Master's degree in Business, Healthcare Administration or related field.
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
