As a Patient Billing Specialist, you need to know how to:
Works directly with patients to resolve billing issues presented at the care site or clinics.
Investigates issues presented by reviewing data in Epic and relevant bolt on systems.
Works directly with RSC personnel to problem solve the issue.
Communicates and follows through directly with the patient or designated family members.
Collects and processes payments.
Explains the billing processes and procedures of SCL Health to patients and site based employees.
Develops and maintains relationships with RSC personnel in Customer Service, Self Pay, Cash, Insurance follow up, Coding and other areas impacting the patient billing experience.
Acts as a resource for billing questions on behalf of the Revenue Service Center at the Care Site.

High School Diploma or equivalent
Three years of work experience supporting the patient billing function is required.
In depth knowledge of the Revenue Service center billing policies and practices.
Proficiency with Epic.
Ability to analyze a patient billing issues and identify the root cause or trends.
Superior communication skills.
Understanding of relevant contractual obligations and compliance regulations including HIPAA.
Ability to assimilate data from a variety of sources and report on results and outcomes.
