In compliance with applicable New York and New Jersey State regulatory authorities, COVID-19 vaccination (2 doses of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or one dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine) is mandatory for all MSK employees, contingent workers, and volunteers. The MSK-Cornell Center for the Translation of Cancer Nanomedicine is seeking a highly motivated and successful individual with a background in Cellular Biology, Molecular Biology or Tumor Microenvironment Biology. The candidate will focus on understanding the effects of nanoparticles on the tumor microenvironment, methods by which to exploit these changes for enhanced therapeutic outcomes, and the utilization of readouts to better inform combinatorial treatment strategies for a variety of tumor types. Proficiency in cellular/molecular imaging procedures related to nanomaterials is desirable.
Prospective candidates will have a working knowledge of both cancer biology and immunology, with a focus on T cells, and their interaction with cancer. Experience with immune checkpoint inhibitors (i.e. PD(L)-1, CTLA-4), and other immunomodulators is highly desired. Familiarity with nanoparticle applications in cancer is desirable, but not required. Candidates will be expected to be highly experienced in, but not limited to, multicolor flow cytometry, qRT-PCR, multiplexed cytokine profiling assays (Luminex), immunohistochemistry, mammalian cell culture, genetic engineering, and animal models. The prospective candidate will be exposed to a dynamic environment focused on translating nanotechnologies for clinical applications and will gain valuable experience across a wide variety of subjects by working closely with a collegial, highly motivated, multidisciplinary team including clinicians, cell biologists, materials scientists, and engineers.
