The role you’ll contribute:
The Accounting Intern is a role designed to expose the intern to various accounting and finance functions. The intent is to provide a compressed overview of AdventHealth Sebring Finance. The intern will work on projects that may be in various areas of finance: Accounting, Financial Planning, Reimbursement, Revenue Management, and others during the program. In each of these areas, the intern will become a key team member, working on meaningful assigned projects that require independent discretion and judgment, completing analysis, learning the processes, and growing. In addition, the intern may be assigned other special projects that seek to implement Financial or Operational improvements. The intern actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

- At times attend key Finance meetings, both observing and participating. The intern should actively learn, ask questions, and join in the discussion. Key meetings to attend are month-end close, Labor & DORS review, and capital committee, among others.
- Complete special projects as requested by hospital leadership. Report findings back to hospital leadership and take actions to improve performance. This could include various projects designed around operational and financial improvement opportunities.
- Has a healthy skepticism and identifies potential internal control issues, fraud, or errors.
- Performs other duties as assigned, to ensure the smooth operation of the department.
QualificationsThe expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
- Must be familiar with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Needs to have a complete understanding of double-entry accounting and needs an operational understanding of routine accounting functions.
- Must have a working knowledge of personal computer applications and spreadsheet analysis.
- Ability to communicate well orally and in writing and have proven analytical and organizational abilities.
