Prisma Health seeks a transformational physician leader to serve as Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Prisma Health Medical Group-Midlands. This position offers an exceptional opportunity to build, design, and lead a highly subspecialized medical group within a complex integrated health care system.
Established in 2017 through the merger of Greenville Health System and Palmetto Health, Prisma Health was created to best serve patients and their families. Today, the System and Medical Group has two regions: Columbia/Sumter (the Midlands) and Greenville (the Upstate). The Medical Group is comprised of more than 3,000 physicians and advanced practice clinicians across the state. As the most comprehensive integrated system in its market, Prisma Health, comprised of 18 hospitals and numerous outpatient sites generates annual revenues of more than $4 billion.
The CMO will be responsible for the integration and strategic growth of the Midlands market, focusing on a holistic enterprise with the Upstate. They will lead the development and implementation of evidence based practice guidelines, formation of service lines and clinical operations across the provider enterprise, including program development, innovative care models, and a focus on creating a sustainable care delivery model for the future. The CMO will work with organizational leaders to continue the growth of the market's clinical services by creating a system culture, leveraging best practices and building integration across the continuum of care. Additionally, the CMO must build upon a focused commitment to the delivery of high quality, patient-centered care in an environment rooted in shared, core values.
The CMO will be a physician capable of clearly and comfortably collaborating with physicians, providers of various backgrounds, and administrators at various levels. An M.D./D.O. degree is required and completion of a postgraduate medical education in an ACGME approved residency program. The CMO will maintain a component of clinical activity in conjunction with administrative duties. Candidates should possess the qualifications for faculty appointment at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, Columbia. An advanced degree in healthcare or a business related field is desired.
