Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine (GCSOM) invites applications for a Curriculum Coordinator position in the Department of Medical Education to contribute to curriculum design and support activities for the Medical Degree Program. Curriculum coordinators facilitate delivery of the curriculum, function as a liaison for the course director, and provide course, faculty, and student support ensuring that courses achieve or exceed goals and expectations.GCSOM was established through the grassroots efforts of visionary individuals who foresaw what a community-based medical school would bring to the region and worked to make it a reality. We offer an MD program distinctive for its personal education style and its community service component that grounds students in medical education, research issues and healthcare needs of the community. The Curriculum is focused on life-long learning, community engagement, and collaboration. Education is delivered using faculty discipline teams of both basic science and clinical faculty, and GCSOM focuses on these educational values through a commitment to patient-centered learning and personal professional development. GCSOM also provides a strong foundation in research to its students, partnered with our Office of Research and Scholarship. A robust range of research opportunities are offered including: a four-year Medical Research Honors Program, a Summer Research Immersion Program and longitudinal research opportunities on topics ranging from genomic health to primary care.In addition to the MD program, GCSOM offers a Master of Biomedical Sciences to help learners prepare for graduate study in the health sciences, enter a health-related field, or advance in their existing careers; the program has Scranton and Doylestown physical locations as well as an online option.
Job Duties
Manages the delivery and coordination of all courses in the medical program.
Provides direct faculty support for curriculum function including but not limited to curriculum mapping, student and course assessment, course planning, faculty/course director training and onboarding, scheduling, student medical accommodations, and exam review.
Assists course directors in the preparation, delivery, and data input of all assessment within the MD curriculum.
Manages the preparation and execution of all exams and serves as proctor for all on site exams and accommodations as needed.
Assist in planning, scheduling, and implementation of curricular based MD research programs.
Oversees course information and student/faculty use of the learning management system, aiding/guidance to course directors in loading and maintaining course materials and grades on the learning management system.
Assures all policy and procedure mechanisms for course-related activities are adhered to.
Provides time management of course activities including deadline reminders and follow up with faculty for needed information.
Manages, and assists in the mapping of the curriculum in the MD program including uploading course information to related course software.
Attend required meetings and trainings.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
